Special Guest in Conversation

Will Self’s brilliant novel, Shark, included a number of allusions and cultural nods to The Waste Land. In these festival conversations to celebrate the poem’s centenary, he discusses the Modernist approach, considers the inheritors of Eliot, and explores the fraught relationship between content and form.

A series of conversations with writers and artists across the festival exploring themes from The Waste Land that offer a contemporary resonance such as landscape, mechanisation, gender-fluidity, ecology, pollution, women’s rights, the power of myth and mental health and well-being.
